Tui Conference Room Story
The Name
As some of you may know Auckland’s Waitakere Estate has a spectacular rainforest setting in the Waitakere Ranges Heritage Park. The rainforest surrounding the hotel is pristine virgin forest which was not milled when the Kauri trees were milled in the Waitakere Ranges about 100 years ago. Often from the decks surrounding the conference room overlooking the rainforest one can hear the song of the native Tui or see them darting between the many trees.
The Tui Conference Room Development
A number of years ago four separate rooms at the end of the main hotel building were converted into one large area to create the Tui conference room. At the same time two sides of the building were opened up and a deck was built around two sides of the room creating great indoor outdoor flow with magnificent rainforest and City views.
Tui Conference Room Refurbishment
The Tui conference room at Auckland’s Waitakere Estate – Heritage Boutique Collection, has had a refurbishment with a new paint job and great new drapery. The design was done by Stewart Harris of McIntosh Harris. Stewart also worked on the interior design for the refurbishment of the Rooms, Lounge and Restaurant areas over recent years.
The new paint colours and drapes make the room feel even brighter and also enhance the outlook to the magnificent views of the Rainforest and City beyond. The Tui conference room accommodates up to 35 delegates in a U-shape configuration, is air-conditioned, opens up onto a surrounding deck area and also has its own sound system.
The Tui Conference room has proved very popular over the years as it has great natural light, the deck area and the panoramic outlook.
Auckland’s Waitakere Estate is located only 30 kilometres from downtown Auckland and has 19 accommodation rooms. The three conference facilities at the Boutique Hotel can accommodate up to 35 in a U shape configuration, 40 in work groups or 60 theatre style.
